I actually just watched it again a couple months ago.

I think it’s one of Robin Williams’ best movies; his voice is so emotive that it made Andrew relatable even though his actual face is covered up through the first half of the film.

The themes are great, too. I especially liked what it says about living as one’s authentic self despite society’s expectations & how we should trust that one’s described lived experience is genuine.

The worst part is that schools use the recorders with “German” fingerings which make a C major scale dead easy, but anything else is a nightmare.

So it’s next to useless for actually learning to play recorder, too.

Yeah, there is a common misconception that conservatism is about “small government” and “States rights.”
