  • Enzymes are sensitive molecules, and they have some serious limitations. Ideally, the manufacturer would tell you what the optimum temperature is. The rest of the mix tends to benefit from higher temperatures though. If there’s a temperature on the box, it’s probably the sweet spot where different components do their job reasonably well.

  • Yeah, Heathrow as a whole is one of the nicer places IMO, but those corridors are uncomfortable. Very liminal indeed.

Messing around with a train just to get to the right terminal sounds like an adventure. If travelling wasn’t stressful enough as it is, adding extra layers of complexity isn’t really helping.

  • I’ve been to some small town airports and they are more miserable in many ways, but at least they look a bit more comfortable.

Once I was stuck in a place like that for about an hour trying to figure out how am I going to get to the nearest town. The printed bus schedule was in conflict with what was publicly available online, and they both implied I was going to have to wait a very long time.

While I was figuring out my options, I couldn’t even have a cup of coffee, because the local cafe was closed. Looks like it always is. Fortunately, I was able to tag along with some group that was headed the right way. Anyway, small airports can be very lonely and miserable places.

  • That’s really odd, because I thought Fedora would have better drivers.

Apparently, the settings would be the next place to look for answers. My settings are really boring and conservative.
When laptop lid is closed: sleep
Nothing special there, so I really don’t know what makes this hardware+software+settings combination unique. I have another computer I use for tinkering, and this one is specifically meant to be the boring one, hence Debian. Turns out, that somehow resulted in amazing stand by time, and I don’t even know how.

  • In my experience, it’s probably a hardware/driver thing. Lenovo laptops are generally really good, but the sleep still drains the battery at the usual rate that forces you to keep an eye on it every day. However, Framework seems to have a pretty amazing battery life during sleep. My guess is, Framework has done something right, and the kernel is able to handle power states way better than any laptop I’ve ever owned.

It’s clearly not about the custom tweaks either. I’m running just plain Debian KDE, and I haven’t tinkered with the power settings at all.
